    Lisa Torbert is the owner of Heathers Holistic Health, LLC.  Lisa is a graduate from DTCC (Associate in Drug & Alcohol) and Wilmington College (Bachelors in Behavioral Science and Masters in Community Counseling). She has achieved her certification as a Certified Addictions Specialist (CADC) and as a Certified Hypnotherapist and a member of the National Guild of Hypnotist.  

    What is Hypnosis?

    Hypnosis is a powerful, proven program which taps into the power of the sub-conscious mind. You can re-program your sub-conscious to help you change your behaviors, and give you motivation to change a habit and enjoy doing it. Hypnosis is the perfect tool for re-educating your sub-conscious mind, the part that creates cravings and impulses.  . Hypnosis can help you make those changes, quickly and more easily than you ever imagined possible

    Can anyone benefit from using hypnosis? I heard that only some people can be hypnotized.

    There is good news! Now anyone of normal intelligence can benefit from hypnosis.

    Hypnosis is for almost anyone. Using modem hypnosis techniques anyone who can follow instructions can experience the benefits of hypnosis.

    Hypnosis is a naturally occurring state of mind. You have already experienced it many times. Hypnosis happens spontaneously when we find ourselves daydreaming or the time right before we fall asleep. Another common example is what is called highway hypnosis. This occurs when you find that you have been driving for a while and you almost miss your turn off. You had been so focused on some other idea that you almost forgot you need to make that upcoming turn. I will simply help you to use these natural human abilities to make the kind of changes you want to make, like breaking habits, improving how you feel, or working to get rid of pain.

    What is a hypnosis session like? You won't make me do anything silly or embarrass me, will you?

    Please remember that Hypnotherapists are professionals. I will always treat you with the utmost respect. Your hypnosis session is confidential. It is a time for you to use the training that I will provide to you to enable you to make some important changes.

    First, you will learn about hypnosis. It has been demonstrated when people know more about hypnosis, they tend to do better in the hypnotherapeutic process. After I have answered all of your questions about hypnosis, then and only then, you will be guided into a state of hypnotic relaxation, where you will begin the process that will help you to rapidly achieve your desired results. After you emerge from hypnosis, I will spend some time with you to talk about your experience and answer any further questions. Then you can discuss whether any further sessions are recommended.

    Can hypnosis hurt you? Is it safe? What do medical experts think about using hypnosis?

    Be assured, hypnosis is safe. In over two hundred years of modem hypnosis, no one has ever been hurt by the use of Hypnosis. The American Medical Association sanctioned the use of hypnosis in 1958. Since then, it has been used by millions of people worldwide. Hypnotherapists commonly receive referrals from medical and psychological professionals, in order to help their clients and patients.

    Because hypnosis’s a consensual process (no one can be hypnotized against their will), the client is always in control and can emerge from the process at any time.  Sessions are held by appointment only.

    You Can Lose Weight - Hypnosis

    PROBLEM WITH DIETS – they are a major change of eating habit patterns.  The main goal is to achieve what we feel is that perfect size. Anyone who has been on a diet knows the powerful motivation you feel when you first start out. Then, as time goes on, the rate of weight loss slows down; you lose weight more slowly, and may even gain a bit. And suddenly, it isn’t quite as easy to stay motivated anymore. Hypnosis helps maintain the motivation for weight loss, keeps you feeling confident that you can achieve your perfect weight goal.  After the diet, most of us just want to return to what we call normal eating.  So the celebration begins, we reward ourselves with cookies, pasta, pizza, chocolate, etc. At this point, there often begins an upward weight trend which can recover all of the lost weight and even pick up a few extra pounds.  (Example:  Atkins diet, no carbs to every carb in sight).  What if we could continue to eat foods that we enjoy?  If you are struggling with weight loss, hypnosis can provide the extra motivation and enable you to escape the many food traps that get in the way of weight loss. Permanent weight loss occurs with a change in lifestyle, not through unnatural diets that are impossible to maintain.

    WHY DO WE OVEREAT?  Overeating usually fills a need.  Some people overeat to compensate for an unpleasant experience.  Others eat excessively to reward themselves or simply for self-entertainment.  Some want to be noticed, feel a lack of love, to offset fear, overcome frustration, boredom, and stress or even to avoid sex. 

    MAYBE IT’S NOT THE DIET BUT OUR ATTITUDES AND THOUGHTS! Changing thoughts and attitudes of the mind can lead to major changes in our life.  Our program will deal with such behavioral matters as establishing times, places and patterns for future eating, elimination of harmful habits and positive reinforcement for changing what our particular overeating problems are.  During hypnosis, your food interests and tastes will be modified to increase the desire for healthy foods, for extra energy to start an exercise program, or to help eliminate craving foods such as carbs. chocolate and/or sugary teats.  With HYPNOSIS clients desire and consume a much lesser amount of food without giving up their favorite foods and drink.  Hypnosis can help clients feel more full, more satisfied after eating a small amount of a desired food, enjoying the quality, not the quantity.
