Cutting Edge Approach for Addiction, Weight loss and Depression! My personal philosophy for counseling involves two areas of personal growth; physical change and emotional change. The physical part of addiction must be dealt with daily. I have devised a program tailored to each individual. I start with a questionnaire to help identify any deficiencies to any neurotransmitters including; dopamine, serotonin, GABA and/or endorphins. Most people with addictions are deficient in one, two, three or even all four areas. Everyone has a different biological blueprint, and it is interesting that perhaps you did not choose your addiction, but that it chose you. By learning natural ways to replace these deficiencies a person will feel better immediately and have less craving to relapse. The emotional growth process takes strength, dedication and time. Addiction is a “lifetime of healing, not just a quick fix.” For many clients, this can be a very painful time, where they will be sharing their story for the very first time. My job is to break down some of their “home movies” into smaller frames, playing out the different scenarios, and helping them to accept and/or change some of their stories and negative beliefs. Counseling is a transformation, a process of change, a time to learn who they really are without the security of some type of chemical addiction or behavior. Lisa is a Yoga Instructor and teaches our day classes here at Heathers. She also is a Massage Practitioner and owner of Heathers.
