Yoga

Yoga is used to achieve peacefulness of body and mind, helping you relax and manage stress and anxiety Here at Heathers we teach Hatha Yoga, which can help decrease the stress of life's daily hassles. All of our classes are for beginners, featuring slower paced and easier movements. The potential health benefits of yoga are stress reduction, increased well-being, weight loss, increased flexibility and management for any type of disease or disorder.

We have Yoga mats for sale for $20. If you purchase mats elsewhere, please make sure they are sticky mats. Yoga is done in your bare feet to prevent slipping. You will be asked to fill out a yoga form before class. Please wear comfortable closes that are stretchable.

Our yoga studio offers 1100 square feet of space ; offering soft lighting, mirrored walls and a state of the art sound system.




Belly Dancing

Estimates for the number of calories burned by dancing vary widely from 180 to 500. The reason for the range? If you are practicing your undulations or snake arms, you're probably working in the 180-calories-an-hour range. If you are rehearsing a vigorous dance with lots of jumping, then you may be working in the 300 to 500 calorie per hour range. The aerobic exercise works large muscle groups, and the dance enhances strength and coordination of small muscle groups in the trunk, hips, and arms.

Belly Dancing Classes:
  • $50 for six weeks, once a week.
  • Beginner classes only three times a year call for times and dates.
Doukissa is our Belly Dancing instructor who has trained with many of the 'big' names from NYC to California. She has studied the ancient art of belly dancing for over ten years and continues to update her skills in workshops and seminars.

Belly dance is practiced in the Middle East at nightclubs, for visitors, or more commonly done at home by women for women. It is known for its isolated but fluid and feminine movements. The class is very relaxed, where women of any body, (size or shape), can learn the dance. Women should wear comfortable clothing and will need to bring something to wrap around their hips.
Ann Gravatt will be your instructor. She teaches vinyasa style hatha yoga at Heathers, blending instruction in yoga philosophy, understanding the chakra system and practicing meditation with the physical practice of yoga, helping to foster true mind, body, and spirit connection. Her classes help students by releasing muscle tension while increasing flexibility and strength, developing balance and promoting relaxation. "My purpose in teaching yoga is to bring to people the awareness that they have the tools within them to enhance and change their lives for the better. There is practically no better way I know to do this than by practicing yoga! This is truly something that everyone, regardless of physical challenges can do.”

Lisa Torbert is the owner of Heathers Holistic Health, LLC. She is a QRA Specialist and a Certified Hypnotherapist; a member of the National Guild of Hypnotist. She earned her certification as a Yoga Instructor from the Yoga Fit Organization and teaches what she calls Meditative Yoga, which intensifies the relaxation process. Lisa is a graduate from Wilmington College with a Masters in Community Counseling. She is a Certified Addiction Counselor (CADC) and is currently working with clients with addiction. Her son, Christopher Schellinger, is currently a Chiropractor here at Heather's.

Heidi Walt - I have been practicing yoga for 18 years and I am recently certified as a Vinyasa Flow instructor. I am continuing my certifications with Hatha style yoga. My teaching style is appropriate for beginners as well as advanced students.

When I am not on my mat, I love photography and poetry. I am the author of two poetry books, Changes and Believe. I love the arts. I also spend time with my best friend and love to cook.
